WINTER GREENS

Green is not just for spring or folks trying to save the environment.  Green is for winter.  It’s a shame that those lovely pots by your front door sit empty and sad by November without a living green thing in them.  What if we could change that?  It’s easy to be green, even when the weather turns cold.  We all know to plant up the urns in spring and summer with our favorite annuals, perennials and even a shrub or two.  We love to revive with color for fall using pansies, grasses, pumpkins and mums.  Winter, however, has always been the doldrums for pots, until now!  It’s time to turn the winter green!

At Rosehill Gardens, you can buy the greens you need by the pound.  We stock an incredible variety.  Before Thanksgiving, the shipments start to arrive.  Usually, we go through 12 – 20 lb. boxes of Douglas Fir, 8 boxes of Silver Fir, and 12 Incense Cedar.  New for this year is Oregonia, dark green and white, it’s very similar to boxwood.  We also cut directly from our local farms in Freeman and Miami County, averaging 6 truckloads of Green Mountain Boxwood, Burki Juniper (beautiful blue berries), Blue Spruce, White and Scotch Pine and Western Red Cedar Arborvitae.  The Magnolia comes from Tennessee in boxes.  We usually use 800-1000 stems!  Winterberry adds beautiful red color and sugar cones as well as mini pinecone clusters give structure to any arrangement.

If you want to make the arrangement yourself, start by cutting off your old fall plantings in your containers at the ground level.  Go ahead and leave the old soil and roots from those summer and fall plants.  Create a winter arrangement with the fresh cut greens.  Remember to follow the basic container recipe, thriller, filler and spiller.  Spray the entire thing with an antidesicant like Wilt Pruf or Wilt Stop and you are done!  Feel free to add your own personal touches, bows, curly willow, red twig dogwood stems for more fun.

Rosehill also has a knowledgeable and creative staff who can design and install the entire winter decoration project for you.  It’s so nice to trust our people to take care of business for you.  They make it look beautiful and you get all the credit!  The designers are scheduling now.  Give us a call to your holiday house bling booked!

Client Reviews

Good Morning!  Just wanted to say THANK YOU again for my beautiful tree.  I had an October Glory Maple planted on Tuesday – it is just gorgeous!!  The two gentlemen that planted my tree were awesome – very professional, friendly, informative and represented your company very well.  I am sorry that I can’t remember their names but they planted a tree for Michel Norris in Olathe.  Please thank them again for me!!

I have been telling all my friends what a great place that Rosehill Nursery is for quality of product and the people that work there….thanks!

Thank you for the replacement of the bushes, it’s nice to do business with someone who keeps their warranty and their word.  If you need to please use me as a reference if necessary.

John McLenon certainly is an asset to your company.  He was so helpful, polite and very nice.  I would recommend him in a heartbeat!

To all who had a part in my yardwork!  Thanks so much for making my front yard so beautiful.  It was really needing a renovation.  Your time and effort are greatly appreciated.  I will enjoy looking out my window and seeing a fresh look.  All I can say is “job well done!”

I wanted to extend a special thanks to the Rosehill Garden team mates for a job well done.  Our yard looks absolutely perfect.

Your landscape Architect, Amanda White is not only very talented but is also very customer oriented.  We are completely satisfied with her finished work product as well as her “get it done” attitude.  Amanda was very focused and efficient in her presentation and handling of the project.  Additionally, the ease of doing business with her was unbelievable;  she always made herself available.

The actual work crew should also be recognized for an outstanding job.  They were very courtious, worked hard and finished the job on-time and left everything in immaculate order.

We wish you all a wonderful holliday season and thanks again for going above and beyond.

I am very pleased to work with Mr. McLennon.  I was also very impressed with the men who worked on my yard.  They were hard workers and very courteous.  Thank You.

Will and team – the landscaping and the trees looks terrific; I am totally impressed with everything you guys did.

Also, thanks for cleaning up so well and taking the dead tree.

Let me know if you ever need a reference…

Thanks again for all your time and the quality work. Good luck with your summer training.

Terry

Thank you, Jim. Everything is coming along quite nicely.  We are already enjoying the beautiful new look of plant life around our building. We have had a very long construction cycle on the exterior of the branch so the landscaping phase has been fun and refreshing for everyone!

Thanks again,

Glad you and your team are handling all my green projects.  It has a great design and natural feel.  It is very cool.  My customers are blown away.  Good job.  Incredible.

The Smith household wants to thank you for you capable employees who finalized our wishes at our home.  It started with your knowledgeable landscape designer Amanda White who helpted us formalize needed yard projects, and then ended with a great 3 person yard crew under Allison Harrison with Amanda making sure our wants were the result.
Your company over the years has helped us with plantings and stonework and we appreciate your expertise and dependability.
